After Tooth Removal

Removing a tooth is never an easy decision. However, there are times when it is in your best interest to remove a tooth. These are a list of Do's and Don'ts that we recommend patients to follow.

1. When you leave the clinic, you should be biting down firmly on your gauze for about 30 min.

2. What is normal healing?

You should feel some mild pain ~ 1 hour after extraction. Some mild painkillers such as Paracetamol should be sufficient.

5. Things to AVOID for the day:

          a) Do not Rinse or Spit vigorously as this may aggravate the bleeding.

          b) Do not Drink with a straw

          c) Do not smoke as chemicals from smoking will deter wound healing.

          d) Avoid strenous activity or going into the hot sun. You need rest =)

6. Can you brush tonight?

YES! Definitely! Gentle brushing keeps the area clean and helps with wound healing.

7. When can you eat?

It is better to eat after Local anaesthesia has wore off to avoid accidentally biting your lips and cheek when you chew.

8. What can you eat / drink

Smoothies/ ice cream/ or any cold drinks helps with bleeding! Soft cool food such as porridge, pasta, bread, soup, juices etc. will be good.
